Chapter III - Citizenship

A citizen of Malta who is also a citizen of a country other than Malta shall, subject to the provisions of sub-article (2), be entitled to retain his citizenship of that country.

If a person who is a citizen of Malta also becomes a citizen of any other country before the first day of August, 2000, that person shall cease to be a citizen of Malta with effect from the first day of August, 2010, unless he shall have renounced his citizenship of that other country before the first day of August, 2010, in accordance with the law of that country.
